Research in mechanics

The faculty of the Mechanics Division has qualifications that combined range from advanced theoretical methods to applied and experimental methods in mechanics. The research in the division covers a number of areas in fluid mechanics as well as in solid and structural mechanics. Despite a reasonably wide range of interests, the various faculty members have a common theoretical foundation in major mechanics and applied mathematics disciplines, and, thus, benefit from the interaction with other members of the group. A factor that in particular has an integrating effect, is the common focus on basic and general mathematical modeling and IT (information technology). For students in the division, the wide range of mechanics applications covered by the faculty interests, is beneficial in that it allows for many interesting and relevant research topics, and later for a wide spectrum of job opportunities in industry and research.
